Music is in the Art section. It is generally perceived as art. There's also the mini-rant from the Are Games Art? topic saying that anything you perceive as art is art. So... Yeah.

... That doesn't make the topic redundant and not everyone sees music as art even though it is generally accepted as so. This is a completely valid topic. Before you go on some rampage please note that although you may view this topic as redundant it in truth is not and what you are using as an argument is your opinion.

Ooooh there was a mini rant in another section of the board that instantly makes a topic redundant no. This topic may not be needed but it is valid and asks a simple question so please post your opinion on music and not on what topics you dislike.

Well thank you Cody I just want somewhere and some one to talk about music to/with!!

I believe that some and note I say that some music is art but not all. Artful music must instill emotions and claim your full attention or at least be an amazing addition to something else that you need doing. Some music screams to be listened to you and yearns for attention while others wish to be a simple backdrop to other activity's.

Music has to have a point and deeper meaning, I think. Opposed to all those whiney songs of some chick wanting a guy, or Justin Bieber stalking women and stealing their stuff.

On another note, some of it doesn't have to be that intense, for example my recent obsession with 50's and 60's music. It's just a good listen, nothing to contemplate and think about while listening. Just fun to dance around and sing.

To me, anything (thats not physical violence or emotional or anything like it) that can express thoughts, feelings, or creativity is counted as art. (exept justin beiber or milly cyrus. they dont count xD)

I beleive there is music that is art. well all of it is. but some of it is just used for different purposes like background music or headbanging. It pulls out emotions becasue depending on the mood your in, you listen to different music and different emotions come out
