Achievements.
Achievements are becoming what defines this era of gaming and i personally dislike that alot people theese days are like o hey i have a game now its time for me to glitch cheat and exploit myself to having everything as fast as possible and then throwing it away sorry for the mini rant, but its realy starting to bug me so what are your peoples thoughts on achievements.
Tldr: Achievements are they good or bad discuss

Re: Achievements.
I personally like them because they actually challenge me do try and play what ever game I'm playing a little harder. Not only that it shows a lot of stuff that you get an achievement for that you would normally never do. Same as for something you would want to do in the game and poof, achievement unlock. They don't mean how good you are, but either the fact that you try and play the game to the fullest (try everything in it), or you bought the game for one reason and only. Most cases are multiplayer for COD or BFBC etc. etc.
Also I like to try and complete the achievements on all the games I can without hacking or something for them.

Re: Achievements.
I agree with Brandana Acheivments give a challenge or make you play the game in a way youve never played before. but some people are acheivments whores but it just means that they want to complete the whole game. like it gives them a sense of fullfilment because most games these days basically no one has gotten every acheivment except for a few. but that just means they are being challenged into playing better and harder.
Re: Achievements.
I agree with you, Daunted.
It is starting to get annoying.
I could care less about achievements, but it is still fun to get them...
I'm not saying achievements are all bad, I'm just saying I hate it when people are obsessing over them.

Re: Achievements.
Achievements are nice, especially if/when the The Orange Box gets its updates on the 360. > I'll be playing it basically day and night in that case.
Though I don't obsess over them. I might try to be more aware of some over others, but that's only if the achievements actually unlock you something, which, for most games, they don't.

Re: Achievements.
no one is super really at all obsessed over them.
it just depends for me
like if i am borrowing a game or i rent it ya i want to get as many as i can before i have to turn that puppy back in. but if i own it i will gradually get them from usually easiest to hardest. and some days im really close to reaching some odd thousand gamerscore so i will got through my games cuz i like it to be on a good number but im not obssesed.

Re: Achievements.
Besides, achievements are probably one of the only real ways to actually keep track of stuff like that.

You're forgetting about Milestones. And Crafting.
Re: Achievements.
I have about half of the L4D2 achievements, one of them being an achievement about beating a campaign without using a gun, just melee weapons
