Are Games Art?

Yes. There are artists designated specifically towards making each game unique and entertaining to look at. This is how an actual piece of art is made, except on a far smaller scale (down to about one person).

good art must be captivating it has to tell a story it must induce multiple emotions be entertaining have a pleasing aesthetic and keep you interested from beginning to end this is true for painting books films and dare i say a great game.

Great games and great art have a lot in common when it comes down to the goals that a game creator or artist must achieve to make something popular or generally appealing.

if you need time and skill to do it then i think it should be art...
but sports are not art.

True and there is an episode of simpsons where homer makes inventions and also throws random scraps of metal together and considers it art. Art... Much like PAIN... is all in the mind I beleive everything is in your mind if you think it hurts it hurts. if you think its art then it is art in your mind.
